[GOP Candidate for OH-10 and former Cuyahoga County Republican Party chair Jim] Trakas has quietly been guiding some of the political moves of MyOhioNow.com, the crusade led by Cleveland-area developers to pass a ballot issue that would allow them to build a $600 million casino and resort about 40 miles north of Cincinnati, just off Interstate 71.

Okay, GOPpers, if I feel sad about this, how does it make you feel?
Comment: We agree with JMZ and let’s hope her Democrat cohorts follow her lead.
The answer is not casinos, but economic prosperity. Until we change the business climate of this state we will continue to see politicians like Trakas grasping for vice to fill the treasury coffers, and probably his pockets.
We will not have solid Republican norms until we rid the party of those that seek the enlargement of the leviathan and lack a solid moral compass. Please boycott the ORP and let those that support Trakas know we want change. We want Republicans with republican norms.

Not that I agree with the government's involvement in casinos, but don't all vices have the potential to lead to poverty or some other form of despair? Why not ban all vices from society(if they are enumerable and tangible)? One could assert that Nabisco leads our citizens to obesity.
As far as I'm concerned, there should be a sportsbook in every Kroger.
#1. While I agree with you about vices in general, there are obvious lines. But we are in economic dire straits and the best ORP members can come up with is increasing revenue through gambling; come on. As a Conservative I can certainly look at a great many situations that republicans, democrats, or libertarians would disagree with me on, but in keeping with the intent of this boycott, we are emphasizing the plain ludicrous behavior of the ORP. If our economy was better I would argue differently, or may be not be concerned all, but when my state is failing and I want to get a message out to our fellow citizens of the incompetence and a lack of virtues on the part of the ORP, I’ll pull in a lot stuff I might not normally be concerned with.
To all who care, rather than identifying the short comings here why not look at the major maladies created by the Ohio Republican Party. Look at the big picture; we must turn this state around.
